God asked Jonah to go to a city called Nineveh and tell the people to become good again. But Jonah didn't want to go: he went the other way and got on a boat.
A great storm shook the sea. The sailors were afraid. Jonah told the truth: "The storm is here because I ran away from God."
Jonah fell into the water — and a very big fish swallowed him whole. In the dark, wet belly, Jonah prayed for three days.
"I'm sorry," he said. And God heard him. The fish carried Jonah safely to the beach with a big splash.
This time, Jonah walked straight to Nineveh. God gives second chances, and Jonah was glad to take his.
