A very long time ago, a man named Noah loved God very much. One day, God told him something surprising: "Build a big boat, Noah. A very, very big boat."
Noah looked at the sky. It was blue and sunny. There was no water anywhere near his house! But Noah trusted God, so he picked up his hammer and started building.
Knock, knock, knock. Day after day, the ark grew taller than the trees. Then the animals arrived, two by two — elephants and mice, giraffes and grasshoppers — walking up the ramp.
The rain fell and the ark floated safely. When the water finally went down, Noah opened the door and everyone stepped out into the sunshine.
God painted a rainbow across the sky. It was a promise: "I will always take care of you." And every time we see a rainbow, we can remember that promise.
