A huge crowd followed Jesus up a grassy hill to listen to him. They stayed so long that everyone's stomach started to growl.
"How can we feed all these people?" Jesus's friends asked. There were more than five thousand!
A boy stepped forward with his lunch: five small loaves and two small fish. It didn't seem like much at all.
Jesus took the lunch, looked up to heaven, and thanked God. Then he began breaking the bread — and there was still more, and more, and more.
Everyone ate until they were full, and twelve baskets were left over. One small gift, given with gratitude, became more than enough.
